The Love Wisely Method™

Because Loving Each Other Isn’t Always Enough. Sometimes You Need to Learn How to Love Each Other More Wisely.

Most couples know what they’re fighting about.

Far fewer understand what happens between them when the fight begins.

One partner reacts. That activates the other. Their reaction activates the first partner even more.

And before either of you realizes what happened, your protective reactions have taken over.

The cycle I call the Dance of Disconnection often develops when each partner’s Protective Patterns begin triggering the other’s.

The Love Wisely Method is my four-phase approach to helping couples understand and change these patterns at the level where they’re actually happening.

Not just in the words you use.

But in who each of you becomes when the relationship feels vulnerable.

A couple in 4 phases of a conversation

Phase 1: Map the Patterns

Make the Invisible Visible

We start by identifying your Dance of Disconnection.

You’ll understand which Protective Patterns each of you moves into, what activates them, and how one partner’s protection becomes the other partner’s trigger.

Instead of: “Why are you like this?” you begin to see: “This is the pattern we’re getting pulled into.”

That shift changes the conversation from you against me to us against the pattern.

Phase 2: Mend the Wounds

Understand What’s Underneath the Protection

Criticism, withdrawal, people-pleasing, control, defensiveness, and keeping score rarely appear from nowhere.

They’re often protecting something much more vulnerable: fear of rejection, failure, abandonment, losing yourself, or not mattering.

We work with the relational wounds and nervous-system responses underneath those reactions so your most protective parts don’t have to keep running your relationship.

Phase 3: Master the Skills

Know What to Do Differently When It Actually Matters

Insight is powerful. But insight doesn’t change Tuesday night unless you can use it while you’re triggered.

You’ll practice concrete skills for:

  • Self-regulation
  • Communication
  • Boundaries
  • Relational time-outs
  • Feedback
  • Accountability
  • Clear requests
  • Repair and apology

The goal isn’t to memorize a framework. It’s to make these skills available when your old pattern is trying to take over.

Phase 4: Ignite the Spark

Build a Relationship That Feels Good to Live In

Reducing conflict isn’t enough.

You don’t want to become roommates who argue more politely. You want the relationship back: the laughter, affection, flirting, and the feeling that your partner is your person.

We’ll intentionally create relational rituals, connection, shared meaning, intimacy, playfulness, and a clearer vision for the life you’re building together.

The Love Wisely Method + Relational Life Therapy

The Love Wisely Method is informed by my certification and training in Relational Life Therapy (RLT) along with my background in transformational coaching, attachment dynamics, nervous-system regulation, and relational healing.

RLT strongly emphasizes relational accountability, understanding the adaptive strategies we bring into relationships, and learning the skills required for healthier connection.

I’ve integrated those principles into a framework designed to help couples not only understand their relationship, but actually live it differently.

The Love Wisely Method provides the foundation for my four-month Relationship Upleveled Couples Coaching Program.

What It Means to Love Wisely

Loving wisely doesn’t mean loving perfectly.

It means knowing when your fear is speaking… when protection has replaced connection… when to pause… how to tell the truth without destroying intimacy… how to repair… when to hold a boundary.

And knowing how to choose the relationship you actually want instead of automatically repeating the one you learned.
