I truly believe that if you are open to it life will send you signs and messages. These signs may come from the Universe, God or what ever you call your Higher Power? Or maybe your Higher Self?
One thing I do know is that when I am in the flow and living my purpose these synchronicities happen more often. I also know that Meditation and practices like Breathwork and Yoga can help you tap into the mystery and help you open to receiving these messages.
I definitely don’t believe in coincidence. I think everything happens for a reason. When a message is sent in the form of a synchronicity I always look for the deeper meaning.
A few months before I left the comforts of my corporate gig I had a beautiful message come to me in the form of a critter.
The years prior I had set myself up to leave the life of an employee and join the ranks of an entrepreneur. I paid off most of my debt. I hired a life coach. I joined B-School. I was finding more clarity as to what I would offer the world but I was scared to death. What if “they” don’t like me? What if I fail? Am I even ready for this? Can I make it on my own?
You get the picture and I’m sure you can relate on some level. We all have fears come up especially when we are embarking on something we’ve never done before.
Well this particular night would help me see I was on the right path. As my man and I were falling asleep our cat started scratching and screaming at the glass back door. Thinking it was a stray cat I told my partner to go shoo it away. He got up and peeked out the blinds and shivered at what he saw, expecting to see a cat but seeing a raccoon instead! We both started banging on the door trying to scare this animal away. She was freaking out our family and now it was time for her to go.
Then I realized, this animal isn’t scared of us, she’s genuinely interested in us. We got down on the floor as she came up really close to the sliding glass door. For ten magical minutes we just checked each other out. It really was a special experience that I will never forget.
I knew there was a message behind this encounter and immediately after we looked up the symbolic meaning of Raccoon and found:
- Go after what you want in life
- Approach life with a playful curiosity
- You may need to wear many masks
These messages were sent to me to help me see I was on the right path. I learned from that beautiful Raccoon to approach my fears with playfulness and curiosity. I also took it as a sign that I would be wearing many masks, or “hats” as they say, going into business for myself.
Thank you Universe, the message was loud and clear! I hold the lesson close to my heart to take life on with a playful curiosity.
